So the June bug hit us and brought us to Koh Lanta. Our first pit stop was Singapore, for an event I had been waiting for my entire life. Coincidentally, Pink Dot was happening across the road from ParkRoyal Pickering road. And no, it's not Pink Dot that i've been waiting my entire life for. Damien Rice was nothing short of my expectations, and more. The quickest two hours of my life passed with beautiful lyrics weaved into a fusion of quaint and melodramatic music. For as long as I can remember, I had been waiting for a new album, a tour, a concert, or anything at all, and 8 years in, this day finally happened. For all the soul music I basked my heartbreaks in. Next stop, Koh Lanta. Andalay Boutique Resort was charismatic. Our beach front room boasted a bed that faced glass doors opening to a view of a prettily nestled pool. And the backdrop? Endless blue waves crashing onto our private beach. We had our first authentic Thai meal in the resort's restaurant. Sumptuous green curry and pineapple fried rice, YAS. We did our favourite thing to do- rent a scooter and tour the island on our own. And spent too long on a tiny island we discovered chasing rainbow crabs for absolutely no reason. And nearly missed our sunset dinner. Diamond cliff beach, for seafood with an engrossing view. As it was the off-peak season, the 4 island tour we were planning to join was off. (Yes, always do your research.) May-October is the island's low season, which means beaches with debris, closed businesses and the looming fear of rain. We did however manage to catch a window of great weather, as a monsoon had just ended the day before we arrived. Making the most out of it, we decided to forgo the island tours and fully explore the island itself as we had just 3 days anyway. According to the locals, Klong Nin Beach had the bluest waters and softest sand amongst the coastal stretch. The waters were slightly murky as the sand brought up from the monsoon had yet to be fully deposited. Even so, it was so beautiful. I can only imagine how stunning a view it'll be during the peak season. Clinton freezing after saving my sandals from the sea that tried to eat it. Mu Koh Lanta National park, down south of the island. A scenic 20 minute ride from our resort later, we've got a quiet beach, a lighthouse, and breathtaking views into the blue. Watch out for the cute but annoying monkeys, we had to run out of the water every 5 minutes to stop them from stealing our bags. My favourite bikini set from our Summer collection. Giant Black Swan Float by Letsplash. November to April, that's the peak season. But if you don't mind missing out on a few parties for a peaceful and laid-back getaway, accommodation rates are reduced to 50% during the low season! x,
Annabelle.
